I discovered through doing my DNA testing that I am allergic to sulfites. My entire life I had an aversion to onions and garlic. I would touch an onion and my finger would smell for a week, through severe washing, scrubbing and even using bleach. Eating garlic would cause my stomach to cramp, ache and I would swell. Many naturopaths and alternative health care practitioners always supported the premise that garlic is healthy for you, but in my case, it caused more issues for people like me.

Foods I intuitively stayed away from as a kid included.
- Radishes
- Milk would make me nauseated unless of course, it was chocolate
- Fish would also make me feel nauseated I thought it was the mercury
- I never really liked dried fruit
- Coconut was ok in small amounts but I felt it was way too rich for me, so having coconut milk or oil in my tea or coffee for a ketogenic diet does not work.
- Eggs were the worst – throw up on site or smell
- Legumes and beans
Cramps from eating healthy foods, just not healthy for you.
Although I am sad to leave the garlic behind I can remove it out of my diet for the most part. But to have to remove wine, well that was not acceptable.
I would wake up after having a glass or two of red wine, feeling like I had a hangover and my fingers were so stiff I could not open and close them. My eyes were also puffy and swollen.

- Nausea
- High or low blood pressure
- Brain Fog
- Chronic Fatigue
Although it is important to ingest sulfur foods, as we need them to produce glutathione and taurine from time to time it is best to do a sulfur detox.
